PERCH HERE AT GROW OP 2016
CONCEPT SPACES
Migratory, transitional, seeking and searching, PERCH HERE is an interspecies experiment that draws on the local biodynamic rhythms of sun and shade, wind and rain, and inspired by the historic Gladstone Hotel’s rich story of occupancy and hospitality. The project applies an artistic process and design research strategy to explore and critique the ideas of hospitality and occupancy on an existing ‘green’ roof located at a downtown Toronto hotel. The rooftop intervention poetically interprets Toronto’s Green Roof Design Guidelines to address urban habitat loss and contribute to the cultural ecology of a place; what and how we share when we arrive and what we all, inevitably, leave behind.
