In collaboration with the Baxter Arts Centre (BAC) Board of Directors and staff, VTLA designed this community building’s first barrier-free, accessible entrance making it a welcoming experience for all!

Our inclusive design for this popular arts centre includes permeable paving, integrated gardens for shade and wildlife, and new seating areas; all evocative of the eye-catching, colourful presence of the Baxter Arts Centre’s current building facade. Inspired by the County’s rocky limestone shelves, the design features rugged Ontario boulders to retain the significant slope and to define the required accessible switchback ramps.  We expanded one of the ramp landings into a small resting area. These changes in the landscape strengthen the Baxter’s mission to support opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to be creative in their community.
