A rain garden is a simple and attractive design feature that allows rainwater to slowly soak into the ground while filtering out contaminantes. It’s also a great way to add biodiversity to our yards, school grounds and community centres. VTLA and Bay of Quinte Remedial Action Plan wanted to showcase three active rain gardens in urban areas of Picton, and educate attendees on the benefits of these gardens, as well as financial incentives and grants that are available.
The gardens were all unique in design and showed to the twenty-ish attendees that there are a variety of ways to create a rain garden that works within your landscape, aesthetic and budget. We hope interest in these wonderful garden features keeps growing.
