A section of neglected urban land along the river in Trenton is slowly being transformed into a vibrant native wildflower and grasses meadow. Volunteers, including VTLA, and Lower Trent Conservation staff flicked out locally sourced seeds from big buckets in ten metre sections, with much of the first round needing moist cold stratification. A second seeding will be done in the spring with additional native grasses. Participating in this was a great chance to learn what it takes to do this work to achieve desired aesthetic and ecological benefits. Let’s endeavour to do more meadow seeding!
